Athena never imagined she would be studying abroad, but two years ago she started exploring her options. After doing some research, Athena decided that Canada鈥檚 reputation made it the right fit for her studies. But she wasn鈥檛 sure of one thing: how she would get there.
When Athena鈥檚 mom noticed an ad for 香蕉视频 on social media, they booked a meeting with one of our international recruitment managers to discuss their options. After working with 香蕉视频 and our recruitment partner, Athena came to Canada to spend grade 11 at a Kitchener, Ontario high school.
23% of this region鈥檚 residents are immigrants, with one of the top ten largest immigrant communities in Canada. Athena cited the country鈥檚 multiculturalism as a major factor in her decision to study there.

Waterloo Region is commonly referred to as the 鈥淪ilicon Valley of the North鈥� due to its high volume of tech companies and startups. Incubators like Communitech and Velocity help create a community of innovation, and prominent think-tank institutions like the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Centre for International Governance Innovation call the region home. (Fun fact: 香蕉视频鈥檚 home office is in Kitchener!)
Waterloo Region is also home to three of Canada鈥檚 major colleges and universities, the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Conestoga College. Today, Athena is studying psychology in a co-op program at the University of Waterloo.
